Pantone in Fashion

5 / 3 / 165 / 15 / 19

pantone-colors-spring-2016-swatches-sized-w724Pantone is an invented name from the 1960s and is the Standard for matching colors. Many markets, including fashion, home, paints, graphic arts, plastics, and industrial design sell products and services using this standard set of colors called the Pantone Matching System. Pantone has said that color “has always been an integral part of how a culture expresses the attitudes and emotions of the times.” For the first time Pantone introduces two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity as the Pantone Color of the Year 2016.

Come in to The Dandelion to see how this season’s Pantone colors are reflected in Fashion.

On Trend: Are Capes the New Jacket?

10 / 6 / 155 / 15 / 19

IMG_6992

We think so! If you’re into layering (and we are!) the Cape is the perfect solution to a jacket, not only for the warmth factor,  but for it’s versatility . Wear it belted, long and flowy, as a topper, as a dress, as a hoodie, over the shoulder or secured with a brooch! They’re great over skinny leggings and boots, cropped pants and flats, or as a “dress” , cinched in the middle with a belt. We love Aldo Martin’s classic plaid cape, Curio’s “Burberry” fringed cape, Parkhurst’s faux-fur trimmed cape, and Bitte Kai Rand’s long, shawl collar kimono-style cape. Check out  our “City Wrap”, in four colors, that can be worn 6-no 7!- different ways!

Organic + Fair Trade Fashion

6 / 24 / 155 / 15 / 19

indigenous

Since 1994, Indigenous has used only the finest natural and certified organic fibers in their clothing, grown without any harmful insecticides, pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilizers. Their organic cotton is not genetically modified and is produced on small farms located mostly in northern Peru.  Still, the most widely used variety of cotton is the soft fiber of the American species, Upland cotton. Indigenous’ gorgeous color palette is created from a low-impact dyeing program specifically designed to keep harmful chemicals and waste away from our bodies and out of our ecosystem. Organic cotton is very soft, breathable, strong, and beautiful and Indigenous is “a brand worth wearing, worth buying, and worth talking about”.
